Method
- Fill your small saucepan or kettle with 1/2 cup of water and warm it over medium heat. Heat the water until it is warm but not boiling, around 160 to 180 degrees Fahrenheit, for about 3 minutes.
- Once the water is warm to the touch but still steaming slightly, carefully pour it into your shot glass or small drinking glass. Leave about a quarter inch of space at the top.
- Measure out 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger powder and sprinkle it directly into the warm water. Stir immediately for about 15 seconds to break up any clumps and dissolve the powder evenly.
- Add 1/4 teaspoon of ground turmeric powder to the mixture. Stir vigorously for another 20 seconds to ensure no powder remains sitting at the bottom undissolved.
- Sprinkle in 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper and a small pinch of sea salt. Stir well for about 10 seconds to combine.
- Add 1 tablespoon of raw honey directly to the warm mixture. Stir continuously for about 30 seconds until the honey fully dissolves and the shot becomes a uniform golden color with a smooth texture.
- If desired, add 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper and stir for 10 seconds for extra warmth.
- Take a small sip and assess the flavor. If you want brightness, add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and stir once more. Stir your shot right before drinking as turmeric can settle to the bottom.
Notes
Use freshly ground black pepper for better turmeric absorption. Keep water warm but never boiling to preserve turmeric's beneficial compounds. Can be stored in refrigerator for up to 3 days in airtight glass containers. Stir well before drinking as turmeric settles. Safe for daily consumption for most people, but check with doctor if on blood thinners or have gallbladder issues.
