Ingredients

  • 4 to 5 medium blood oranges about 2 pounds
  • Ice optional, for serving
  • Water optional, for adjusting sweetness

  • Citrus juicer or electric juicer
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Measuring cup
  • Fine mesh strainer (optional)
  • Glasses for serving

Method
 

  1. Rinse the blood oranges under cool running water and pat dry.
  2. Cut each blood orange in half from top to bottom using a sharp knife.
  3. Place the juicer over a bowl or measuring cup according to manufacturer instructions.
  4. For each orange half, press and twist it on the juicer to extract the juice.
  5. Continue juicing all halves until you have about 1 to 1.5 cups of juice.
  6. Strain the juice through a fine mesh strainer into a serving container if you prefer pulp-free juice.
  7. Divide the juice into glasses, add ice if desired, and stir gently.
  8. Taste the juice and adjust by adding water for a lighter flavor if needed.

Notes

Store fresh juice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
