Ingredients
  

Main
  • 8 cups apple cider
  • 2 cups orange juice
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon whole cloves
  • 1 tablespoon allspice berries
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon sticks about 3 sticks
  • 1 orange sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 apple sliced (for garnish)

  • Large pot or slow cooker
  • Wooden spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Strainer (optional)
  • Cups for serving

Method
 

  1. In a large pot, combine the apple cider, orange juice, and brown sugar.
  2. Add the whole cloves, allspice berries, and cinnamon sticks to the mixture.
  3. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
  4. Reduce heat to low and let the wassail simmer for 30 minutes.
  5. Taste the wassail and adjust the sweetness if needed.
  6. If desired, strain out the whole spices before serving.
  7. Pour the wassail into cups and garnish with slices of orange and apple.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy with friends and family.

Make a double batch to ensure everyone has enough to sip while they mingle!
