Ingredients

Main
  • 2 cups brewed coffee
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Equipment

  • Coffee maker or French press
  • Medium saucepan
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Coffee mugs
  • Whisk

Method

  1. Step 1: Brew 2 cups of strong coffee using a coffee maker or French press until hot.
  2. Step 2: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine 1/2 cup heavy cream, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger, and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  3. Step 3: Heat the cream mixture for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it begins to simmer—do not boil.
  4. Step 4: Whisk vigorously for 1 minute to fully blend the spices and incorporate air.
  5. Step 5: Divide the brewed coffee between two mugs, filling each halfway, then slowly pour the warm cream mixture on top.
  6. Step 6: Stir gently, taste, and adjust sweetness or spice as desired.
  7. Step 7: Optionally garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a dollop of whipped cream and serve immediately.

Notes

For an adult version, add a splash of whiskey; store leftover coffee and cream separately and reheat gently to prevent curdling.
