Ingredients

Main
  • 0.75 ounces vodka about half a standard shot glass
  • 0.75 ounces citrus-flavored energy drink like Citrus Bomb or similar
  • 0.25 ounces lime juice fresh or bottled, one small squeeze

Equipment

  • Shot glass (1.5 to 2 ounces)
  • Jigger or measuring tool
  • Bar spoon or regular spoon
  • Can or bottle opener

Method

  1. Place your shot glass in the freezer for at least 5 minutes before making the drink to keep all ingredients chilled.
  2. Using a jigger, measure out 0.75 ounces of vodka and pour it into the chilled shot glass.
  3. Slowly pour 0.75 ounces of citrus energy drink into the shot glass on top of the vodka.
  4. Squeeze about 0.25 ounces (roughly one small squeeze) of fresh lime juice directly into the glass.
  5. Using a bar spoon or regular spoon, stir the mixture gently 5 to 6 times to combine all flavors without losing carbonation.
  6. Check that the glass feels ice-cold to the touch. If warmed up, add one or two small ice cubes and stir once more.
  7. Take a small sip to check the balance. Add more lime for citrus kick or more energy drink if too tart.
  8. Serve immediately and drink in one smooth motion while still cold and carbonated.

Notes

Keep your energy drink can cold in the freezer for at least 30 minutes before making the shot. Always use ice-cold ingredients and serve immediately, as carbonation escapes within seconds. This shot cannot be made ahead of time. For parties, prep vodka and lime in advance, but add energy drink only at the moment of serving.
