Ingredients
  

Main
  • 1.5 ounces whiskey bourbon, rye, or blended
  • 6 ounces brewed black tea cooled to room temperature
  • 0.75 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 ounce honey or 0.75 ounce honey syrup for easier mixing
  • 4 to 6 ice cubes
  • Lemon wheel or twist for garnish optional

Equipment

  • Tall glass (12 to 16 ounces)
  • Measuring jigger (1.5 ounces)
  • Bar spoon or long cocktail spoon
  • Cocktail strainer (optional)
  • Kettle or pot for brewing tea
  • Citrus juicer or press (optional)

Method
 

  1. Steep one black tea bag in 8 ounces of boiling water for 4 to 5 minutes to brew a strong tea.
  2. Pour the steeped tea into a separate container and let it cool to room temperature for at least 10 minutes.
  3. Add 4 to 6 ice cubes to a tall 12 to 16 ounce glass.
  4. Measure and pour 1.5 ounces of whiskey over the ice.
  5. Add 0.75 ounce of fresh lemon juice to the glass.
  6. Add 0.5 ounce of honey or honey syrup and stir well to dissolve for 10 to 15 seconds.
  7. Pour 6 ounces of cooled brewed tea into the glass.
  8. Stir the mixture with a bar spoon for another 10 to 15 seconds and taste, adjusting honey or lemon if needed.
  9. Garnish with a lemon wheel or twist and serve immediately.

Notes

Serve immediately and enjoy while the ice is still cold. Adjust honey and lemon to taste if desired.
