Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half for a lighter version
  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Equipment

  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Medium mixing bowl or jar
  • Whisk or fork
  • Airtight glass jar or bottle for storage
  • Spoon for stirring

Method

  1. Place your measuring cups and spoons on the counter and pull out your heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract.
  2. Measure out exactly 1 cup of heavy cream and pour it into your mixing bowl or jar. Use cold cream straight from the refrigerator.
  3. Pour 1/4 cup of sweetened condensed milk into the same bowl with the heavy cream.
  4. Measure out 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract and add it to the mixture.
  5. Using a whisk or fork, blend all three ingredients together with about 30 to 60 seconds of vigorous whisking until everything is fully incorporated and smooth.
  6. Check the consistency. The creamer should be pourable but noticeably thicker than milk. If it looks too thick, whisk in 1 tablespoon of milk to thin it slightly.
  7. Pour your finished creamer into an airtight glass jar or bottle.
  8. Refrigerate the creamer for at least 30 minutes before adding it to your coffee. Store for up to two weeks in the refrigerator.

Notes

Give the jar a quick shake before each use because the ingredients naturally separate slightly during storage. Use the coldest cream you can find straight from the back of your refrigerator shelf. Store in glass rather than plastic to prevent flavor absorption and extend shelf life. Make a fresh batch every two weeks for the best taste.
