Ingredients

Main
  • 6 ounces strawberry gelatin one 6-ounce package or two 3-ounce packages
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup vodka or other clear spirit of choice
  • 1 cup fresh strawberry puree or strawberry juice
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar optional, for garnish
  • Fresh strawberries optional, for topping or garnish

Equipment

  • Small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Shot glasses or small plastic cups (2-ounce capacity)
  • Stirring spoon or whisk
  • Shallow baking pan or tray to hold shot glasses
  • Knife for cutting fresh strawberries (optional)

Method

  1. Arrange the shot glasses on a shallow baking pan or tray so they remain stable in the refrigerator.
  2. Bring 1 cup of water to a rolling boil in a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl (heat in the microwave for 2 to 3 minutes).
  3. Pour the boiling water over the strawberry gelatin in a mixing bowl and stir for about 2 minutes until fully dissolved with no clumps.
  4. Let the gelatin mixture cool at room temperature for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Stir in 1 cup of vodka and 1 cup of strawberry puree or juice until completely combined and smooth.
  6. Carefully fill each shot glass about three-quarters full with the gelatin mixture.
  7. Chill the filled shot glasses in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours until set but still slightly jiggly.
  8. Garnish each shot with fresh strawberries or a light rim of sugar before serving straight from the refrigerator.

Notes

Don't skip the full 4-hour chill time or shots won't set properly.
