Method
- Pour tajin seasoning or spicy salt onto a small plate and run a fresh lime wedge around the rim of a highball glass to moisten it.
- Roll the lime-coated rim through the tajin salt mixture until fully covered, then tap off any excess.
- Fill the prepared glass about three-quarters full with large ice cubes.
- Measure and pour 2 ounces of silver or blanco tequila into a cocktail shaker using a jigger.
- Add 3 ounces of fresh grapefruit juice and 1 ounce of fresh lime juice to the shaker.
- Pour in 1/2 ounce of simple syrup and 1/2 ounce of hot sauce or chosen spicy liquid.
- Fill the shaker with fresh ice cubes, seal tightly, and shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds until frosted.
- Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass over ice using a cocktail strainer.
- Garnish with a fresh grapefruit or jalapeño slice, stir once with a bar spoon, and serve immediately.
Notes
Pro Tip: Make a jalapeño-infused tequila by leaving sliced jalapeño in silver tequila for 3 to 5 days for cleaner heat integration.
