  • 0.5 ounces whiskey
  • 0.5 ounces gin
  • 0.5 ounces rum preferably dark or spiced
  • 0.25 ounces fresh lemon juice
  • 0.25 ounces simple syrup
  • 1 large ice cube or handful of smaller ice cubes
  • 1 lemon twist for garnish

  • Jigger or shot glass for measuring
  • Cocktail shaker with strainer
  • Bar spoon for stirring
  • Rocks glass or shot glass for serving
  • Mixing glass or pitcher
  • Bottle opener

Method
 

  1. Gather your whiskey, gin, rum, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, ice, and garnish tools on your work surface.
  2. Pour 0.5 ounces whiskey into a jigger or shot glass for measuring.
  3. Add 0.5 ounces gin to the jigger, then add 0.5 ounces rum.
  4. Transfer the measured spirits into a mixing glass or cocktail shaker.
  5. Add 0.25 ounces fresh lemon juice and 0.25 ounces simple syrup to the spirits.
  6. Add one large ice cube or a handful of smaller ice cubes to the mixing glass.
  7. Stir the mixture for about 10 seconds to chill and lightly dilute.
  8. Strain the cocktail into a rocks glass or shot glass, leaving ice behind.
  9. Twist a lemon peel over the drink to express oils, then drop it into the glass as garnish.

Notes

Chill your serving glass beforehand and always use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor and presentation.
