Main
  • Fresh lemon juice: 1/4 cup about 2 large lemons
  • Cold water: 3/4 cup
  • Sugar: 2 to 3 tablespoons adjusted to taste
  • Ice cubes: 4 to 6 cubes
  • Sea salt optional: pinch

Equipment

  • Citrus juicer or manual lemon squeezer
  • Measuring spoons
  • Measuring cups
  • Tall glass
  • Long spoon
  • Knife
  • Cutting board

Method

  1. Select 2 large lemons that feel heavy, roll them on the counter, then cut in half.
  2. Use a citrus juicer or squeezer to extract 1/4 cup of lemon juice into a glass or bowl.
  3. Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of sugar to a tall glass, starting with 2 tablespoons for a tarter taste.
  4. Pour the fresh lemon juice into the glass with sugar and stir briskly for 30 seconds until sugar is fully dissolved.
  5. Add 3/4 cup of cold water to the lemon-sugar mixture and stir to combine.
  6. Add 4 to 6 ice cubes to the glass and stir gently.
  7. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more sugar, lemon juice, or water if desired.
  8. Serve immediately while cold and enjoy your homemade lemonade.

Notes

Lemons yield more juice if rolled before cutting. Use sea salt to enhance citrus flavor without adding noticeable saltiness.
