Ingredients
  

Main
  • 2 ounces white rum
  • 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 0.5 ounce Cointreau or triple sec
  • 0.25 ounce simple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon sea salt for rimming
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 lime wedge for garnish

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring spoon
  • Cocktail strainer
  • Margarita glass or coupe glass
  • Bar spoon
  • Knife or citrus reamer
  • Small plate or saucer for salt rim

Method
 

  1. Wet the rim of the margarita glass with a lime wedge and dip it into sea salt to coat evenly.
  2. Add 1 cup of ice cubes to the cocktail shaker.
  3. Measure and pour 2 ounces of white rum into the shaker.
  4. Add 1 ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice to the shaker.
  5. Pour 0.5 ounce of Cointreau or triple sec into the shaker.
  6. Add 0.25 ounce of simple syrup to the shaker.
  7. Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10 to 12 seconds until the outside is frosty.
  8. Strain the mixture into the prepared glass over fresh ice using a cocktail strainer.
  9. Garnish with a lime wedge and serve immediately.

Notes

Serve immediately while ice cold and enjoy as a refreshing tropical cocktail.
