Method
- Step 1: Fill your glass with ice and a splash of water to chill, then set aside for 2 minutes.
- Step 2: If desired, rim the glass by running a lime wedge around it and rolling it in kosher salt.
- Step 3: Juice 2 medium limes to yield 1 ounce of fresh lime juice, straining out pulp if preferred.
- Step 4: Add about 1 cup of cubed ice to the cocktail shaker.
- Step 5: Pour in 2 ounces reposado tequila and 0.5 ounce Cointreau into the shaker.
- Step 6: Add 1 ounce fresh lime juice and 0.5 ounce agave nectar to the shaker.
- Step 7: Shake vigorously for 12 to 15 seconds until the shaker feels frosty.
- Step 8: Discard the ice water from your chilled glass, strain the margarita into it, garnish with a lime wheel, and serve immediately.
Notes
Always use fresh lime juice squeezed within a few hours for peak flavor.
