Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice about 4-6 lemons
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes for serving
  • Lemon slices for garnish optional

Equipment

  • Juicer or citrus squeezer
  • Pitcher
  • Measuring cups
  • Stirring spoon
  • Fine mesh strainer (optional)

Method

  1. Start by rolling the lemons on the counter. This helps release the juices. Cut them in half and juice them until you have a full cup.
  2. In a pitcher, mix the granulated sugar with 1 cup of cold water. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely, creating a simple syrup.
  3. Pour the freshly squeezed lemon juice into the pitcher with the sugar water.
  4. Add the remaining 3 cups of cold water to the mixture.
  5. Give the lemonade a taste. If it’s too tart, add more sugar; if it’s too sweet, add more lemon juice or water.
  6. Place the pitcher in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Fill a glass with ice cubes and pour the chilled lemonade over.
  8. If desired, add lemon slices to the glass for a beautiful presentation.

Notes

Taste and adjust sweetness and tartness as needed. This lemonade can be made in large batches and paired with various dishes.
