  • 1.5 oz vodka
  • 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz raspberry liqueur
  • 0.25 oz simple syrup
  • Ice cubes for shaking
  • Lemon wheel for garnish
  • Fresh raspberries for garnish optional
  • Sugar for rimming the glass optional

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or shot glass
  • Strainer
  • Bar spoon or long mixing spoon
  • Coupe glass or martini glass
  • Ice cubes
  • Small knife for garnish

Method
 

  1. Place your coupe or martini glass in the freezer for at least five minutes to chill.
  2. Add a generous handful of ice cubes to a cocktail shaker, filling it about halfway.
  3. Measure and pour 1.5 ounces of vodka into the shaker using a jigger.
  4. Squeeze fresh lemon juice to measure 0.5 ounces and add it to the shaker.
  5. Pour 0.5 ounces of raspberry liqueur into the shaker.
  6. Add 0.25 ounces of simple syrup to the shaker.
  7. Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 to 12 seconds until it is frosty to the touch.
  8. Strain the cocktail into the chilled glass using a strainer to remove ice chips.
  9. Garnish with a lemon wheel on the rim and drop fresh raspberries into the drink.

Notes

Fresh lemon juice makes a huge difference; always squeeze right before mixing for maximum brightness.
