Ingredients
  

Main
  • 2 ounces gin London Dry style preferred
  • 0.5 ounces dry vermouth
  • 0.25 ounces pickle juice fresh, briny, from dill pickles
  • Ice enough for shaking or stirring
  • 1 dill pickle spear for garnish
  • Splash of dry sherry optional for added depth

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker or mixing glass
  • Jigger for measuring spirits
  • Bar spoon or long-handled spoon
  • Strainer (Hawthorne or julep style)
  • Martini glass (chilled)
  • Small cutting board for garnish

Method
 

  1. Place the martini glass in the freezer and chill for at least 5 minutes.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker or mixing glass with a generous handful of fresh ice.
  3. Using a jigger, measure and pour 2 ounces of gin into the shaker over the ice.
  4. Measure and add 0.5 ounces of dry vermouth to the shaker.
  5. Measure and pour 0.25 ounces of pickle juice into the shaker.
  6. Cover the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 seconds or stir gently for 30 seconds.
  7. Use a strainer to pour the mixture into the chilled martini glass, leaving the ice behind.
  8. Garnish with a dill pickle spear and serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh, naturally fermented pickle juice and chill all ingredients and glassware thoroughly for the best flavor.
