Method
- Chill your martini or coupe glass in the freezer for at least 2 minutes.
- Prepare the rim by mixing crushed candy canes with cocoa powder on a shallow plate. Moisten the rim of the chilled glass with a lemon wedge or damp cloth and dip it into the mixture.
- Fill the cocktail shaker about three-quarters full with fresh ice cubes.
- Pour 1.5 ounces vodka, 0.5 ounces peppermint schnapps, 0.75 ounces coffee liqueur, and 0.75 ounces cooled espresso into the shaker.
- Add 0.5 ounces half and half or heavy cream to the shaker.
- Shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds until the shaker feels very cold and frosted.
- Strain the mixture into the prepared glass using a fine strainer to catch any ice shards.
- Garnish with a small dollop of whipped cream and rest a peppermint stick on the rim, then serve immediately.
Notes
Serve immediately to enjoy optimal chill and creamy texture.
