Ingredients

Main
  • 2 shots espresso about 2 oz or 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 2 tablespoons natural peanut butter
  • 1 cup whole milk or milk alternative
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon honey or maple syrup optional

Equipment

  • Espresso machine or moka pot
  • Milk frother or small saucepan
  • Liquid measuring cups
  • Tablespoon measure
  • 12 oz mug or coffee cup
  • Spoon for stirring
  • Immersion blender (optional)

Method

  1. Pull 2 shots of espresso (about 2 oz) or brew 1/2 cup of strong coffee using an espresso machine or moka pot (about 1 minute).
  2. Scoop 2 tablespoons of natural peanut butter into the hot espresso while it's still steaming.
  3. Stir the peanut butter and espresso vigorously for about 30 seconds until mostly smooth.
  4. Heat 1 cup of milk to 150°F in a milk frother or small saucepan, then froth or whisk vigorously for 1–2 minutes to create microfoam.
  5. Stir 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract into the peanut butter and espresso mixture.
  6. Slowly pour the frothed milk into the espresso mixture while stirring gently to combine.
  7. Add 1/2 teaspoon of honey or maple syrup if desired, stirring until fully incorporated.
  8. Optionally, blend the drink with an immersion blender for 10 seconds to achieve extra smoothness.

Notes

For the smoothest texture, blend peanut butter with a small amount of hot espresso in a separate container before adding it to the rest of the drink.
