Ingredients

Main
  • 4-5 ripe peaches washed and sliced
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 cups vodka or any neutral spirit
  • 1 cup water optional for a lighter liqueur

Equipment

  • Glass jar with a tight-fitting lid
  • Strainer or cheesecloth
  • Measuring cup
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Funnel (optional, for bottling)

Method

  1. Prepare the peaches by washing and slicing them to release their juices and flavors.
  2. Layer the sliced peaches and granulated sugar in the glass jar to allow the sugar to draw out the fruit's moisture.
  3. Pour in the vodka, ensuring the peaches are completely submerged to facilitate full flavor infusion.
  4. Seal the jar tightly and shake vigorously to combine the sugar, peaches, and vodka, jumpstarting the infusion.
  5. Store the jar in a cool, dark place and let the mixture infuse for 1 to 2 weeks, shaking the jar every few days to meld the flavors.
  6. After infusion, strain the mixture through a fine strainer or cheesecloth into a clean bottle to remove peach solids.
  7. Taste the liqueur and, if desired, stir in additional sugar and water until you reach your preferred sweetness.
  8. Using a funnel, pour the finished liqueur into clean bottles and chill in the refrigerator before serving.

Notes

Use ripe, juicy peaches for the best flavor. Store the bottled liqueur in a cool, dark place and consume within 6 months.
