Ingredients

Main
  • 0.75 ounces peanut butter schnapps
  • 0.75 ounces whiskey bourbon or rye preferred

Equipment

  • Shot glass (1.5 ounce capacity)
  • Jigger or measuring spoon
  • Bar spoon or regular spoon

Method

  1. Set out your shot glass, jigger, and both bottles of liquor on a clean, flat surface.
  2. Pour 0.75 ounces of peanut butter schnapps into your jigger, then carefully transfer it into the shot glass.
  3. Using your jigger, measure out 0.75 ounces of whiskey.
  4. Slowly pour the whiskey over the back of a bar spoon to create a layered effect, or simply pour it directly into the glass.
  5. Use a bar spoon or regular spoon to stir the mixture gently for about 3 to 5 seconds, ensuring the flavors begin to marry.
  6. Inspect the shot for proper color and consistency - it should have a warm, caramel-brown color with a slightly creamy appearance.
  7. Optional: Pop your shot glass into the freezer for 2 to 3 minutes before serving for a smoother drinking experience.
  8. Serve the shot right away while both liqueurs are still properly combined and at your desired temperature.

Notes

For best results, use quality peanut butter schnapps brands like DeKuyper or Hiram Walker. Keep both bottles in the freezer so liqueurs are already chilled before mixing. Chill your shot glass in the freezer for 5 minutes before pouring to keep the drink colder longer and enhance smoothness. Serve immediately after mixing as the shot separates slightly when left sitting.
