Ingredients

Main
  • 1 bottle of red wine 750 ml, a fruity variety works best
  • 1 cup of blackberries fresh or frozen
  • 1 orange sliced
  • 1 lemon sliced
  • 1 lime sliced
  • 1/4 cup of brandy
  • 1/4 cup of orange liqueur
  • 2 cups of soda water or lemon-lime soda for extra sweetness
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar optional, depending on sweetness preference

Equipment

  • Large pitcher
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Measuring cups
  • Stirring spoon

Method

  1. Start by washing the blackberries and slicing the orange, lemon, and lime.
  2. In a large pitcher, combine the red wine, brandy, orange liqueur, and sugar if using.
  3. Add the sliced fruits and blackberries to the pitcher.
  4. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least an hour, or overnight if possible.
  5. When you are ready to serve, stir in the soda water gently.
  6. Give the sangria a taste and adjust the sweetness or acidity as necessary.
  7. Fill glasses with ice and pour the sangria over the top.
  8. Garnish with additional slices of fruit if desired.

Notes

Let the sangria sit for a bit longer if you can; time works wonders on flavor.
