Ingredients
  

Main
  • 4 to 5 ounces ginger beer chilled
  • 0.75 ounces fresh lime juice approximately half a lime
  • 1 to 2 ounces club soda
  • 1 thin slice fresh ginger for garnish
  • 1 thin slice lime wheel for garnish
  • 4 to 6 ice cubes
  • 1 small fresh mint sprig optional garnish

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker or mason jar with a lid
  • Jigger or measuring shot glass
  • Bar spoon or long spoon for stirring
  • Citrus juicer or small hand juicer
  • Strainer (if using a shaker)
  • 12 ounce glass
  • Cutting board and knife for lime and garnish prep

Method
 

  1. Fill a 12 ounce glass with 4 to 6 ice cubes.
  2. Cut one lime in half and juice one half to yield about 0.75 ounces of fresh lime juice.
  3. Pour 0.75 ounces of fresh lime juice over the ice in the glass.
  4. Pour 4 to 5 ounces of chilled ginger beer into the glass.
  5. Add 1 to 2 ounces of club soda on top of the ginger beer.
  6. Stir gently with a bar spoon for 10 to 15 seconds to combine flavors.
  7. Slice a thin piece of fresh ginger and cut a lime wheel for garnish.
  8. Garnish the drink with the ginger slice, lime wheel, and optional mint sprig, then serve immediately.

Notes

Chill your glass in the freezer for 10 minutes and use ice-cold ingredients for maximum refreshment.
