Ingredients

Main
  • 12 ounces beer of your preferred style
  • Ice for chilling shot glasses (optional)
  • Salt for rimming shot glasses optional
  • Lime wedges for garnish optional

Equipment

  • Shot glasses (2-ounce capacity)
  • Beer bottle or can opener
  • Refrigerator or freezer
  • Tray or serving platter
  • Pouring spoon (optional)

Method

  1. Place shot glasses in the freezer for at least 15 minutes to chill.
  2. Choose a cold beer you enjoy; crisp lagers and light beers work best.
  3. Open the beer with a bottle opener and let excess carbonation settle for 1–2 minutes.
  4. If using a salted rim, wet the rim of each glass with a lime wedge and dip in salt.
  5. Tilt each chilled shot glass and pour beer slowly down the side, filling three-quarters full.
  6. Arrange filled shot glasses on a chilled tray or serving platter.
  7. Add lime wedges to the tray for guests to use as a garnish or chaser.
  8. Serve the shots immediately while cold and carbonated.

Notes

Serve immediately for best flavor and carbonation. Discard any warm or flat shots.
