Ingredients

Main
  • 1.5 ounces premium silver tequila
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 ounce triple sec or Cointreau
  • 0.5 ounce simple syrup
  • 1 to 1.5 cups ice roughly crushed or cubed
  • Kosher salt for rimming
  • Lime wheel or wedge for garnish

Equipment

  • Blender or food processor
  • Cocktail shaker with strainer
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Bar spoon
  • Margarita or coupe glasses
  • Lime for rimming and garnish
  • Small shallow dish for salt rim

Method

  1. Run a lime wedge around the rim of each margarita glass and dip the rims in kosher salt.
  2. Measure 1.5 ounces tequila, 0.5 ounce triple sec, and 0.5 ounce simple syrup into the blender.
  3. Squeeze 1 ounce fresh lime juice into the blender and stir to combine.
  4. Add 1 to 1.5 cups of ice to the blender, adjusting for desired thickness.
  5. Blend on high speed for 15 to 20 seconds until the mixture is smooth and slushy.
  6. Slowly pour the frozen margarita into the prepared glasses to preserve the salt rim.
  7. Garnish each glass with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim.
  8. Serve immediately while the drink maintains its slushy texture.

Notes

Chill glasses in the freezer before serving to keep the margarita frosty longer.
