Method
- Pull your cocktail glass from the freezer if chilled earlier, or run it under cold water and shake out the excess.
- Pour 1.5 ounces of vodka into your jigger and set aside.
- Measure 0.75 ounces of the syrup from canned lychees into your cocktail shaker.
- Cut lime in half, juice one half, and measure 0.5 ounces of fresh lime juice into your shaker.
- Place 3 to 4 canned lychees directly into your cocktail shaker.
- Add 6 to 8 ice cubes to your shaker, filling it about three-quarters full.
- Pour measured vodka into the shaker, secure the lid, and shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds.
- Place strainer over the shaker opening and pour the cocktail into your chilled glass, keeping ice and lychee pieces in the shaker.
- If desired, top with 0.5 ounces of chilled club soda or sparkling water for a lighter version.
- Place a thin lime wheel on the rim of your glass and tuck 2 to 3 fresh mint leaves alongside it. Serve immediately while ice-cold.
Notes
Always use fresh lime juice squeezed immediately before mixing for best results. Chill your glass for at least 15 minutes beforehand if possible. This drink is best made right before serving rather than in advance. For parties, mix vodka, lychee syrup, and lime juice in a pitcher and keep chilled, then shake individual drinks to order.
