Method
- Fill a kettle with 2 cups of water and bring to a rolling boil over high heat.
- Pour the boiling water into a 2-quart pitcher and add 6 to 8 Lipton tea bags.
- Allow the tea bags to steep undisturbed for 5 to 8 minutes, depending on desired strength.
- Carefully remove the tea bags using a spoon or strainer, avoiding squeezing to prevent bitterness.
- While the tea is still hot, stir in 1/2 to 3/4 cup granulated sugar until fully dissolved.
- Add 1/8 teaspoon of salt and 2 to 3 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice, stirring to combine.
- Pour in 6 cups of cold water and stir thoroughly to dilute and cool the tea.
- Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 4 hours until fully chilled.
- Serve the iced tea over ice cubes and garnish with lemon slices or fresh mint if desired.
Notes
Make a batch at the start of your week and store it in the refrigerator for up to 7 days for easy access to cold tea.
