  • 1 cup 8 ounces fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup 4 ounces Cointreau or triple sec
  • 3/4 cup 6 ounces simple syrup, cooled
  • 1/2 cup 4 ounces water
  • 6 lemon twists for garnish

  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Citrus juicer or hand juicer
  • Bar spoon or long-handled spoon
  • Cocktail or highball glasses
  • Strainer (optional)
  • Ice bucket or ice maker

Method

  1. Squeeze fresh lemons to yield 1 cup (8 ounces) of juice, about 5–7 medium lemons.
  2. If needed, prepare simple syrup by combining equal parts sugar and hot water, stirring until sugar dissolves, then cool completely.
  3. Arrange vodka, lemon juice, Cointreau, simple syrup, water, and ice bucket near your 2-quart pitcher.
  4. Pour 2 cups (16 ounces) of vodka into the pitcher.
  5. Add 1 cup (8 ounces) of freshly squeezed lemon juice to the pitcher.
  6. Pour in 1/2 cup (4 ounces) of Cointreau or triple sec.
  7. Add 3/4 cup (6 ounces) of cooled simple syrup and 1/2 cup (4 ounces) of water.
  8. Stir thoroughly with a bar spoon for about 1 minute until all ingredients combine.
  9. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or freeze for 30 minutes to chill quickly.
  10. Serve by pouring the batch over fresh ice in glasses, about 2 ounces per serving, and garnish each with a lemon twist.
