Ingredients

Main
  • 1.5 ounces Jose Cuervo Gold Tequila
  • 1 ounce Triple Sec or Cointreau
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 ounce simple syrup
  • Salt for rimming the glass
  • Ice as needed for shaking
  • Lime wheel for garnish

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker or mason jar with lid
  • Jigger or shot glass for measuring
  • Bar spoon or long spoon
  • Strainer or fine mesh sieve
  • Margarita glass or rocks glass
  • Cutting board and sharp knife
  • Small plate for salt rimming
  • Juicer or citrus reamer

Method

  1. Prepare your margarita glass by running a lime wedge around the rim and dipping the edge in salt to coat.
  2. Measure 1.5 ounces Jose Cuervo Gold tequila, 1 ounce triple sec, 1 ounce fresh lime juice, and 0.5 ounce simple syrup into your cocktail shaker.
  3. Fill the shaker three-quarters full with ice to ensure proper dilution and chilling.
  4. Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds until the shaker feels cold.
  5. Hold a strainer over the shaker and pour the mixture into the prepared glass, leaving the ice behind.
  6. If desired, add fresh ice cubes or crushed ice to the glass for an extra chilled margarita.
  7. Garnish with a lime wheel on the rim and serve immediately while cold.

Notes

Always use fresh lime juice and quality ice for the best flavor and proper dilution.
