Ingredients

  • 1.5 ounces Applejack brandy
  • 0.75 ounces Fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 ounces Grenadine
  • About 1 cup Ice cubes for shaking
  • Optional garnish: thin lime wheel or apple slice

  • Jigger or measuring shot glass
  • Hawthorne strainer
  • Bar spoon
  • Coupe glass or cocktail glass
  • Citrus juicer or hand juicer

Method
 

  1. Gather all ingredients and equipment before starting.
  2. Fill the cocktail shaker with ice cubes until it is three-quarters full.
  3. Measure 1.5 ounces of Applejack brandy using a jigger and pour into the shaker.
  4. Cut a fresh lime in half and juice both halves to yield 0.75 ounces of juice, then add to the shaker.
  5. Measure 0.5 ounces of grenadine and pour into the shaker.
  6. Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10 to 12 seconds until the exterior is frosty.
  7. Using a Hawthorne strainer, strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass.
  8. Garnish with a thin lime wheel or apple slice if desired.
  9. Serve immediately while cold.

Notes

Always use freshly squeezed lime juice and real grenadine for best results. Serve immediately at peak temperature.
