Method
- Fill a tall glass with 4 to 6 ice cubes or equivalent crushed ice.
- Grind fresh espresso beans to a fine, consistent texture using a burr grinder.
- Fill the portafilter basket with ground coffee, level gently, and tamp firmly with even pressure.
- Lock the portafilter into the espresso machine’s group head with a quarter turn.
- Pull two espresso shots (about 1.5 ounces total), aiming for 25 to 30 seconds of extraction.
- Pour the hot espresso directly over the ice in the glass, listening for the sizzle.
- Add 6 ounces of cold water to the glass and gently stir to combine.
- Taste and adjust water amount if you prefer a stronger or weaker drink.
Notes
Use fresh espresso beans roasted within two weeks and grind just before brewing. Adjust water to customize strength.
