  • Bar spoon for stirring
  • Citrus juicer or hand juicer
  • Fine mesh strainer
  • Rocks glass or coupe glass
  • Cutting board and knife for garnish

Method

  1. Make honey syrup by stirring 0.5 cup honey and 0.5 cup hot water in a jar until fully dissolved; cool before using.
  2. Fill your serving glass with ice to chill and set aside.
  3. Cut lemons in half and juice them, then strain through a fine mesh to remove pulp and seeds.
  4. Add a generous handful of ice to the cocktail shaker, filling it about halfway.
  5. Pour 2 ounces bourbon, 0.75 ounces fresh lemon juice, 0.5 ounces honey syrup, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters into the shaker.
  6. Shake vigorously for 10 to 12 seconds until the shaker is frosty and cold.
  7. Discard ice from the chilled serving glass and strain the cocktail into it.
  8. Express a lemon twist over the drink or add a lemon wheel for garnish and serve immediately.

Notes

Make your honey syrup ahead and store it in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Batch cocktails can be prepared in advance and shaken with ice before serving.
