Method
- Combine equal parts sugar and water in a small saucepan and simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves, about 2 to 3 minutes; remove from heat and cool to room temperature, about 10 to 15 minutes.
- Cut oranges, lemons, and limes in half and extract the juice using a citrus juicer or hand reamer, then strain through a fine-mesh strainer to remove pulp and seeds.
- Pour fresh orange juice, pineapple juice, lemon juice, and lime juice into a large pitcher or punch bowl and stir gently to combine.
- Stir in the cooled simple syrup, taste the mixture, and adjust sweetness by adding more syrup or tartness with a splash of lemon juice.
- Cover and refrigerate the juice base for at least 30 minutes until thoroughly chilled.
- Prepare garnishes by thinly slicing an orange, rinsing berries, and drying mint sprigs.
- Fill the pitcher halfway with ice cubes, pour in the chilled juice mixture, then add ginger ale or club soda and stir gently to preserve carbonation.
- Float orange slices, fresh berries, and mint sprigs on top of the punch and serve immediately over additional ice in individual glasses.
Notes
Make the juice base the night before and chill overnight; add carbonation and ice just before serving for maximum freshness.
