Ingredients

Main
  • 3 ounces Champagne or sparkling wine chilled
  • 3 ounces Fresh orange juice chilled
  • 0.5 ounces Fresh cranberry juice optional
  • 1 thin orange slice for garnish
  • 2 to 3 ice cubes optional

Equipment

  • Champagne flute or tall glass
  • Measuring jigger or 1-ounce measure
  • Bar spoon
  • Bottle opener or cork screw
  • Citrus zester or peeler
  • Cutting board and knife

Method

  1. Chill the champagne flute in the freezer for at least 5 minutes.
  2. Strain fresh orange juice through a fine mesh to remove pulp if desired.
  3. Pour 0.5 ounces cranberry juice into the chilled glass for color layering.
  4. Add 3 ounces of chilled orange juice slowly to preserve the cranberry layer.
  5. Tilt the glass and pour 3 ounces of chilled champagne slowly to avoid overflow.
  6. Gently stir the mixture 3 to 4 times with a bar spoon to combine flavors.
  7. Cut a thin slice of orange and twist it to make a garnish slit.
  8. Place the orange slice on the rim of the glass and serve immediately.

Notes

Always add juice before champagne to prevent the drink from overflowing when sparkling wine is added.
