  • 1.5 ounces silver tequila
  • 0.75 ounces Hennessy cognac
  • 0.75 ounces fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 ounces simple syrup
  • Sea salt for rimming the glass
  • Ice as needed for shaking
  • 1 lime wheel for garnish

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Strainer
  • Margarita glass or coupe glass
  • Bar spoon
  • Lime squeezer or citrus press

Method
 

  1. Run a lime wedge around the rim of the glass, then dip the rim into sea salt to coat.
  2. Pack the cocktail shaker three-quarters full with large ice cubes.
  3. Measure and pour 1.5 ounces of silver tequila into the shaker.
  4. Add 0.75 ounces of Hennessy cognac to the shaker.
  5. Squeeze fresh limes to obtain 0.75 ounces of lime juice and add to the shaker.
  6. Pour 0.5 ounces of simple syrup into the shaker.
  7. Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 to 12 seconds until well chilled.
  8. Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass over a large ice cube.
  9. Garnish with a lime wheel and serve immediately.

Notes

Chill your glass in the freezer for at least 10 minutes before serving to keep the margarita colder longer.
