Ingredients
  

Main
  • 1.5 ounces vodka or rum, mezcal, or whiskey
  • 3 ounces cranberry juice
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 ounce orange liqueur Cointreau, Triple Sec, or Gran Marnier
  • 0.5 ounce simple syrup
  • 2 to 3 ice cubes
  • Orange twist or lime wheel for garnish
  • Edible glitter or black sugar optional, for rim

  • Cocktail shaker or mason jar with lid
  • Jigger or shot glass for measuring
  • Strainer (fine mesh or Hawthorne strainer)
  • Bar spoon or long spoon for stirring
  • Highball or coupe glass
  • Knife for cutting citrus twists or garnishes
  • Cutting board

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Fill your shaker with 2 to 3 ice cubes or a handful of crushed ice.
  2. Step 2: Measure and pour 1.5 ounces of vodka into the shaker.
  3. Step 3: Add 3 ounces of cranberry juice to the shaker.
  4. Step 4: Squeeze and add 1 ounce of fresh lime juice.
  5. Step 5: Pour 0.5 ounce of orange liqueur into the mixture.
  6. Step 6: Add 0.5 ounce of simple syrup into the shaker.
  7. Step 7: Seal and shake vigorously for about 10 seconds, until the shaker is frosty.
  8. Step 8: Strain the cocktail into a chilled highball or coupe glass.
  9. Step 9: Garnish with an orange twist or lime wheel and optionally rim the glass with black sugar or edible glitter.

Notes

Batch cocktails can be prepared ahead by multiplying ingredients, combining them in a pitcher with ice, and stirring or shaking before serving.
