Ingredients
  

Main
  • 1.5 ounces silver tequila
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 0.75 ounces guava nectar or puree
  • 0.5 ounces Cointreau or triple sec
  • 0.5 ounces fresh orange juice optional
  • 0.25 ounces simple syrup adjust to taste
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime wedge or guava slice for garnish
  • Salt for rimming optional

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker or mason jar with lid
  • Jigger or shot glass for measuring
  • Bar spoon or small spoon
  • Strainer
  • Margarita or rocks glass
  • Citrus juicer
  • Knife and cutting board

Method
 

  1. Chill your glass in the freezer for at least five minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the drink.
  2. Cut a fresh lime and squeeze 1 ounce of juice using a citrus juicer into your shaker.
  3. Measure and pour 1.5 ounces of silver tequila into the cocktail shaker using a jigger.
  4. Add 0.75 ounces of guava nectar or puree to the shaker.
  5. Pour 0.5 ounces of Cointreau or triple sec and 0.5 ounces of fresh orange juice into the shaker.
  6. Add 0.25 ounces of simple syrup, then fill the shaker three-quarters full with ice cubes.
  7. Shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty and cold.
  8. Discard ice from the chilled glass, then strain the margarita into the glass over fresh ice.
  9. Garnish with a lime wedge or guava slice and, if desired, rim the glass with salt before serving.

Notes

Serve immediately for best flavor and enjoy as a refreshing tropical cocktail.
