Method
- Chill the coupe or martini glass in the freezer for at least 5 minutes.
- Fill a mixing glass three-quarters full with ice cubes.
- Measure and pour 1.5 ounces of premium cognac over the ice.
- Add 1 ounce of Cointreau or orange liqueur to the mixing glass.
- Squeeze 0.5 ounces of fresh lemon juice into the glass, straining out pulp and seeds.
- Stir the mixture with a bar spoon for 10 to 15 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.
- Using a Hawthorne strainer, strain the cocktail into the chilled glass, leaving the ice behind.
- Express the oils of an orange twist over the drink and drop the twist into the glass as garnish.
Notes
Always use fresh lemon juice and serve immediately in a chilled glass for best flavor.
