Ingredients
  

Main
  • 2 ounces premium silver or gold tequila
  • 1 ounce fresh-squeezed orange juice
  • 0.75 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 ounce triple sec
  • 0.5 ounce agave nectar
  • Kosher salt for rimming optional
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime wheel or wedge for garnish

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker or mason jar with lid
  • Jigger or shot glass
  • Bar spoon or regular spoon
  • Strainer
  • Rocks glass or margarita glass
  • Lime for garnish and rimming
  • Small plate for salt rim
  • Citrus juicer (optional)

Method
 

  1. Chill the glass by filling it with ice and setting it aside.
  2. If desired, run a lime wedge around the rim and dip the glass into kosher salt on a small plate.
  3. Pour 2 ounces of tequila into a shaker using a jigger.
  4. Add 1 ounce of fresh-squeezed orange juice and 0.75 ounce of fresh lime juice to the shaker.
  5. Add 0.5 ounce of triple sec and 0.5 ounce of agave nectar to the shaker.
  6. Fill the shaker three-quarters full with ice.
  7. Shake vigorously for 10 to 12 seconds until the shaker feels frosty.
  8. Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass over fresh ice.
  9. Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge and serve immediately.

Notes

Always use fresh-squeezed citrus juice for the best flavor and garnish with fresh lime for aroma.
