  • 2 ounces bourbon whiskey
  • 0.75 ounces fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 ounces honey syrup
Honey Syrup
  • 1 cup raw or regular honey
  • 1 cup hot water

  • Coupe glass
  • Channel knife

Method
 

  1. Combine 1 cup raw or regular honey and 1 cup hot water in a small saucepan, stirring until fully blended to make the honey syrup.
  2. Let the honey syrup cool to room temperature, about 15 to 20 minutes.
  3. Cut a lemon in half and juice it using a citrus juicer to obtain 0.75 ounces fresh lemon juice.
  4. Measure 2 ounces of bourbon whiskey using a jigger.
  5. Fill a cocktail shaker three-quarters full with large ice cubes or crushed ice.
  6. Add the measured bourbon, fresh lemon juice, and 0.5 ounces cooled honey syrup to the ice-filled shaker.
  7. Shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds to chill and dilute the cocktail properly.
  8. Strain the mixture into a chilled coupe glass or rocks glass filled with fresh ice using a Hawthorne strainer.
  9. Garnish with a lemon twist by expressing the oils over the drink and dropping the peel into the glass.

Notes

Store leftover honey syrup in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
