- Fill your highball glass with ice to chill and keep the drink cold.
- Use a jigger to measure and pour 2 ounces of gin into the cocktail shaker.
- Add 1 ounce of freshly squeezed lemon juice to the shaker.
- Pour in 0.5 ounce of simple syrup to balance the citrus.
- Dash 2 to 3 drops of Angostura bitters into the shaker for complexity.
- Fill the shaker with ice until it is about three-quarters full.
- Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 to 12 seconds to chill and dilute.
- Strain the mixture into the prepared ice-filled highball glass using a Hawthorne or julep strainer.
- Top the drink with 3 to 4 ounces of cold water or soda water to reach the glass rim.
- Express a lemon twist over the cocktail to release oils, then garnish and serve immediately.
Notes
