Method
- Fill a highball or rocks glass halfway with ice cubes.
- Measure out 1.5 ounces (45 ml) of gin using a jigger and pour it over the ice.
- Slowly pour 4 ounces (120 ml) of chilled ginger beer over the gin, pouring down the side of the glass to preserve carbonation.
- Squeeze 0.5 ounce (15 ml) of fresh lime juice directly into the glass.
- Use a bar spoon to stir gently for 10 to 15 seconds to combine the ingredients without flattening the ginger beer.
- Taste the cocktail and adjust by adding more lime juice if too sweet or more ginger beer if too sharp.
- Cut a lime wheel or wedge for garnish.
- Place the lime wheel on the rim or drop the wedge into the glass and serve immediately.
Notes
Serve immediately to enjoy full carbonation and chill; keep gin and ginger beer chilled before mixing to minimize dilution.
