Method
- If using a salted rim, wet the edge of your glass with lime juice or water and roll it in sea salt, then set aside.
- Cut limes in half and juice them to yield 1 ounce of fresh lime juice (about two medium limes).
- Chop 1/2 cup of fresh fruit into small pieces, removing stems, seeds, or skins.
- Place chopped fruit in the bottom of a cocktail shaker and muddle gently to release juices.
- Add 2 ounces of tequila, 0.5 ounces of triple sec or Cointreau, 0.5 ounces of agave nectar, and the lime juice to the shaker.
- Add 1 cup of fresh ice to the shaker, filling it three-quarters full.
- Shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds until the shaker is frosty and cold.
- Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into the prepared glass, leaving pulp behind.
- Garnish with a fresh fruit slice or wheel and serve immediately.
Notes
Use fresh, ripe fruit and fresh lime juice for best flavor. Prep ingredients ahead when making multiple servings.
