Ingredients

Main
  • 2 cups frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 cup silver tequila
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice about 2 limes
  • 2 tablespoons triple sec or Cointreau
  • 2 tablespoons agave nectar or simple syrup
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes
  • Kosher salt for rimming glasses
  • Lime wedges for garnish

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Cocktail glasses
  • Lime squeezer or citrus juicer
  • Bar spoon or long stirring spoon
  • Small shallow dish for salt rim

Method

  1. Run a lime wedge around the rim of two cocktail glasses, then dip each rim into a shallow dish of kosher salt.
  2. Measure out 2 cups of frozen strawberries and add them to your blender.
  3. Pour 1/2 cup of silver tequila into the blender with the frozen strawberries.
  4. Squeeze fresh limes to get 1/4 cup of juice and add it to the blender.
  5. Measure out 2 tablespoons of triple sec and add it to the blender.
  6. Add 2 tablespoons of agave nectar to the blender.
  7. Pour in 1/2 cup of regular ice cubes along with everything else in the blender.
  8. Blend on high speed for about 30 to 45 seconds until the mixture reaches a smooth, slushy consistency with no visible ice chunks.
  9. Carefully pour the frozen mixture into your salt-rimmed glasses, filling each one about three-quarters full. Garnish with a lime wedge and serve immediately with a straw.

Notes

If your blender struggles with the thickness, add the liquid ingredients (tequila, lime juice, triple sec, and agave) first, then add the frozen strawberries and ice. Chill your glasses in the freezer for 10 minutes before serving. Use good quality tequila for best results. Make sure frozen strawberries are fully frozen before blending. If making multiple batches, blend one batch at a time.
