Ingredients
  

Main
  • 1.5 ounces dark rum such as Bacardi 151 or Overproof
  • 1.5 ounces light rum such as Bacardi Superior or Wray & Nephew
  • 0.5 ounces banana liqueur Bols or similar brand
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 2 ounces fresh orange juice
  • 0.5 ounces grenadine
  • 0.5 ounces simple syrup
  • 2 cups crushed ice
  • 1 orange slice for garnish
  • 1 maraschino cherry for garnish optional

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring jigger or shot glass
  • Liquid measuring cup
  • Bar spoon or long spoon for stirring
  • Two rocks glasses or hurricane glasses
  • Citrus juicer or hand juicer
  • Ice maker or freezer with ice trays

Method
 

  1. Place two rocks glasses or hurricane glasses in the freezer while you prepare the drink.
  2. Pour 1.5 ounces dark rum, 1.5 ounces light rum, and 0.5 ounces banana liqueur into a measuring jigger.
  3. Squeeze fresh limes and oranges to yield 1 ounce lime juice and 2 ounces orange juice.
  4. Measure 0.5 ounces grenadine and 0.5 ounces simple syrup into a small glass or bowl.
  5. Pour 2 cups crushed ice into your blender first.
  6. Pour the measured rums, banana liqueur, lime juice, orange juice, grenadine, and simple syrup into the blender with the ice.
  7. Blend on high speed for 30 to 45 seconds until the mixture reaches a smooth, slushy consistency without visible ice chunks.
  8. Carefully pour the blended mixture into your chilled glasses, filling them to the rim, and top each with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry if desired.

Notes

Serve immediately after blending to enjoy the optimal slushy texture.
