Ingredients

Main
  • 1 cup margarita mix quality brand recommended
  • 2 ounces premium tequila silver or blanco variety
  • 1 ounce triple sec or Cointreau optional but recommended
  • 2 cups ice crushed or cubed
  • Salt for rimming glasses
  • Lime wedges for garnish
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons water if needed for consistency

Equipment

  • High-powered blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Two rocks glasses or margarita glasses
  • Cocktail strainer (optional)
  • Shallow dish or plate for salt rim
  • Pitcher for pre-mixing (optional)
  • Lime wedges for garnish

Method

  1. Run a lime wedge around the rim of each glass and dip into salt to coat; set glasses aside.
  2. Add 2 cups of ice into a chilled blender pitcher.
  3. Pour 1 cup of margarita mix into the blender.
  4. Add 2 ounces of premium tequila to the blender.
  5. Add 1 ounce of triple sec or Cointreau to the blender.
  6. Blend on high speed for 45 to 60 seconds until smooth and slushy.
  7. Check texture; if too thick, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water or additional margarita mix and blend 10 seconds more.
  8. Divide the margarita mixture evenly into the prepared glasses.
  9. Garnish each glass with a lime wedge and serve immediately.

Notes

Chill your blender pitcher and glasses in the freezer for at least 15 minutes before blending to maintain the frozen texture longer.
