Method
- Run a lime wedge around the rim of each margarita glass to moisten the edge.
- Place sea salt on a shallow plate and dip each moistened rim into the salt, rotating gently to coat evenly.
- Cut two fresh limes in half and juice them to extract about 1.5 ounces of fresh lime juice.
- Measure 3 ounces of tequila, 1 ounce of triple sec, and 0.5 ounce of agave nectar using a jigger and pour into the blender.
- Add 1.5 to 2 cups of crushed ice to the blender.
- Pour the fresh lime juice, tequila, triple sec, and agave nectar over the ice in the blender.
- Blend on high speed for 30 to 45 seconds until smooth and slushy, adding 1 tablespoon of water or lime juice if too thick.
- Pour the frozen margarita mixture evenly into the prepared glasses, filling just below the rim.
- Garnish each glass with a lime wedge or wheel and serve immediately while at peak chill and texture.
Notes
Freeze your glasses in the freezer for at least 15 minutes before serving to keep the margarita frozen longer and enhance mouthfeel.
