Method
- Pull two shots of espresso directly into your mug, aiming for a total extraction time of 25 to 30 seconds.
- While the espresso is still hot, add 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and stir until dissolved to create a caramel base.
- Add 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon, and a pinch of ground nutmeg, then stir thoroughly to blend the spices.
- Add a small pinch of sea salt and stir again to balance and deepen the flavors.
- Heat 8 ounces of whole milk to 150 to 155°F using a steam wand or in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Froth the heated milk with a steam wand or whisk vigorously for 30 to 45 seconds until microfoam forms.
- Slowly pour the steamed milk into the spiced espresso mixture, holding back the foam with a spoon.
- Spoon the remaining foam on top of the latte and dust with a pinch of ground cinnamon before serving immediately.
Notes
Best enjoyed immediately for optimal foam and flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours and reheat gently over medium-low heat, stirring to recombine.
