Method
- Gather and measure all ingredients using a jigger.
- Fill a mixing glass with ice cubes, filling it about three-quarters full.
- Pour 1.5 ounces of cognac or brandy into the ice-filled mixing glass.
- Add 0.5 ounce of yellow Chartreuse to the mixing glass.
- Add 0.5 ounce of fresh lemon juice to the mixing glass.
- Add 0.25 ounce of simple syrup if using for slight sweetness.
- Stir the mixture with a bar spoon for 15 to 20 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.
- Strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe or martini glass, leaving the ice behind.
- Express oils from a lemon twist over the surface of the cocktail and drop the twist in as garnish.
Notes
Chill the serving glass in the freezer for 5 minutes before straining to keep the cocktail cold longer.
