Method
- Pour 1/2 cup filtered water into a small saucepan and bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
- Add 1 chamomile tea bag or 1/2 teaspoon dried chamomile flowers to the simmering water and steep for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Remove the tea bag or strain out the flowers, then add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder and 1/4 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (or 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger) and whisk to combine.
- Add 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, a pinch of black pepper, and a pinch of cardamom powder (if using), stirring continuously to bloom the spices.
- Add a pinch of sea salt and whisk thoroughly to enhance the flavors.
- Reduce heat to low and slowly pour in 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk while whisking constantly to create a smooth texture.
- Continue to warm the mixture on low heat for 2 to 3 minutes, ensuring it does not come to a boil.
- Remove the pan from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon raw honey or maple syrup, adjusting the sweetness to taste.
- Strain the drink through a fine mesh strainer into a mug if desired, then pause to inhale the aroma and serve immediately.
Notes
Make a larger batch of the spice blend by combining turmeric powder, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, and black pepper in a small jar so you can grab a pinch each morning without measuring individual spices every time.
