  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice approximately 6 medium lemons
  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice approximately 4 medium limes
  • 3/4 cup simple syrup or agave nectar
  • 4 cups cold water
  • 1/4 teaspoon edible glitter or food coloring blue or electric blue, optional but recommended
  • Ice cubes for serving
  • Fresh lemon and lime slices for garnish
  • Pinch of salt to enhance flavors

Method
 

  1. Cut lemons and limes in half and juice them using a citrus juicer or manual squeezer.
  2. Optional: Strain the citrus juices through a fine mesh strainer to remove pulp and seeds.
  3. Add the fresh lemon juice and lime juice to a large pitcher.
  4. Pour in the simple syrup or agave nectar and stir thoroughly to combine.
  5. Slowly add the cold water to the pitcher while stirring to ensure even mixing.
  6. Add a pinch of salt and edible glitter or food coloring; stir until fully dissolved and the color is even.
  7. Taste the lemonade and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more syrup, lemon juice, or water as desired.
  8. Fill serving glasses with ice cubes and pour the electric lemonade over the ice.
  9. Garnish each glass with lemon and lime slices and serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftover lemonade in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days; stir before serving and add fresh ice as needed.
